Service-Learning is the integration of community service with academic skills and structured classroom reflection activities that strives to make students active in their community.
Service-learning provides students with the opportunity to work with adult mentors in both the community and educational settings. The community-based projects are linked back to classroom activities to crate and interactive experience.
The reflection component teaches students to review what they have learned from the community and classroom experience to see the impact on their own life.
The service-learning experience offers the opportunity to transcend learning into real-world activities, makes use of multiple skills, develops high-order thinking skills, and provides team building opportunities.
