Edgecombe Early College High School
Commitment Statement

As a student of Edgecombe Early College High
School, I believe my goal is to achieve an Associate’
s Degree along with my high school diploma. In
order to reach the highest level of success, I must
accept and fully participate in every aspect of the
Early College High School Design Principles.

Power of Site: As a guest of the Edgecombe
Community College campus, I must conduct
myself in a respectful, responsible and mature
manner consistent with staff expectations and
behavior.
•        No drama/gossip
•        Do not abuse freedom or computer privileges
•        Accept responsibility for my choices
•        Take care of college property

Teaching and Learning: As a learner, I commit to
being present and prepared prior to the start of all
high school and college classes. I understand cell
phone use is not acceptable and I agree to keep mine
on the “off mode” during all scheduled class time.
I understand plagiarism, claiming other’s
work/property (i.e. copy & paste) as my own, is
wrong and could lead to expulsion from E.E.C.H.S.
and E.C.C. I will do all work assigned to the very
best of my ability. 110%--24/7!

Student Support: As a student at E.E.C.H.S. I will
be a part of a learning community, responsible for
my own learning. I will have academic support
systems (Seminar, tutoring) and affective support
systems (House, clubs). These are Early College
components I accept as relevant and vital for my
college success. I understand attendance and
participation of these components are expected.

Democratic School Governance: Intentionally
designed structures, House and Town Meetings,
provide for everyone’s voice to be heard and
respected in the decision-making process with
regard to developing student activities and other
policies that affect the daily life of students and
faculty. I commit to prompt attendance (on time)
of these structures and collaborate with my peers to
strengthen our learning community.
